From the President

Before we get all caught up in our summer plans I would like to thank each of you who voted for our slate of officers. Unfortunately, we still have two important positions to fill— Vice President/Membership, this is one of the most essential positions on our board, and Tikkun Olam/Social Action. Please step up to the plate if interested; you will be trained by our very competent outgoing members this summer.

I would like to send out a colossal thank you to the outgoing board: David Zeichick, Cindy Ratekin, Helene Ginsberg, Bonnie Mitchell and Renée Everett—all of you have done an outstanding job and I appreciate all of your hard work and commitment to our synagogue! I do not have words to express my gratitude. I especially appreciate all that you do on your own time to help keep CBI running during these difficult financial times. And, as I look onward to the many activities and programs scheduled in the upcoming year, I am excited to be working with the new board. Along with Rabbi Julie and Administrative Assistant Liz Bohn, let me present our CBI Board of Directors for 2014/2015:

All of the named board members deserve our thanks for their willingness to contribute to the administration of CBI. Next time you see one of these individual express your deep gratitude! Although no longer a member of the board, I would also like to acknowledge and thank Helene Ginsberg for her efforts in making sure that our kitchen is clean and organized.

As your president I hope to continue developing into a leader you deserve. All I ask of you is to pay what you pledge in membership dues in a timely manner, volunteer your time wherever it is needed, and come to services and special programs as much as possible. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns, suggestions and even kudos.

And while we are on the subject of summer, I would like to congratulate eight of our students who earned Gert Lenner Campership scholarships. They all will attend Camp Tawonga this summer and will share their wonderful experiences from camp with CBI. A big thank you to Matt and Isabel Fine, who matched both Haverot’s and Shul School’s donations. Thank you to the Shul School parents and students who worked tirelessly raising money at their carwash in May and thank you to everyone who worked on or ate at the Bagel Brunch.
