Shul School had its annual Shabbaton in Mill Creek near Lassen Park during the weekend of September 5 to 7. Seven CBI children attended, along with their families, Shul School teacher/director Ruth Gordon, and Rabbi Julie to create Shabbat magic in the mountains.

Some of the highlights were preparing for Shabbat, eating together, singing songs, completing arts and crafts, and jumping on the trampoline. As in previous Shabbatons, probably the most memorable highlight was hiking to the creek with a mini Torah in a backpack and crossing the creek on fallen logs. Rabbi Julie led Shabbat prayers and song under the timber. We celebrated Havdalah under the stars with s’mores and campfire storytelling. The children stayed awake way too late at night. A special thank you goes to the Zeichick family for letting Shul School use their cabin again in Mill Creek. We are looking forward to another annual Shabbaton next year!
