The CBI Tikkun Olam Torres Shelter project ran strong during the summer months. The shelter’s new kitchen continues to present op
portunities and challenges as we learn best use practices for the space. There are currently 100 people at the shelter, which makes for a very busy night with many hands needed.
Thanks to the June crew: Cheryl and Kai Jackson, Nitsa and Irv Schiffman, Sylvia Bowersox and son Holden, Greg Einhorn and Maureen Knowlton. And thanks to the July crew: Loretta Steinke, Monica Zukrow and son Lucas, Michael Mulcahy, Wendy Diamond, Greg Einhorn and Maureen Knowlton. Wendy Marsters and Nelda Jessee led the August team: Callie Marsters, George and Leanna Rawley, Karen Goldfarb and Jim Jessee. Thank you all!
The continued success of the CBI Torres Shelter project is due both to the fabulous hands-on volunteers as well as to members’ generous monetary donations. Thank you to Carolyn Sanger and to Steve Margolin for their recent donations.
Please contact Nancy Evens at nancyjevens@gmail.com or mknowltonjersey@ gmail.com if you would like to help serve and prepare a meal. No experience necessary. Donations are always welcome with checks made payable to “CBI—Torres Shelter Project.” All funds received go to purchase food for the dinner CBI serves at the shelter on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
