Author Danny Siegel (http://www.dannysiegel.com/danny.html) will lead a special program for all Menchkin and Shul School-age children on Sunday, November 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Miller home.

His talk will focus on Kid Mitzvah Power: Amazing Tikkun Olam (SocialAction/World Repair) Done By Kids! (and how their parents can encourage it) Siegel is the key Jewish leader who has been instrumental over the past few decades in popularizing ideas like:

  • Hands-on, personalized, and creative tzedakah (tzedakah=charity, righteous giving)

  • B'nei Mitzvah service and tzedakah projects -- he is the one who got them started

  • Mitzvah Heroes, i.e. people of any faith who do extraordinary deeds for others in creative ways

  • Micro-philanthropy -- doing good with small amounts of money

  • Tikkun Olam (repairing the world, social action) as an integral part of Jewish observance

  • Donor-designated contributions by Jewish charities

  • Ziv Tzedakah, a fund he ran for years that harnessed contributions as small as $10 into $14 million of giving

Rabbi Julie has known Siegel since the 1980s when she helped bring him to San Antonio. Through an unusual chain of events, he is coming to Chico. Please plan to feel free to invite other families whether or not they are members of CBI.

Please contact Amy Miller for address and directions.
