The CBI Community has been busy helping out during the holiday season. Chico knows that CBI folks are good neighbors. Here's what we've been up to lately:

Safe Space

Thanks to all CBI members who served, participated, coordinated, supported, staffed, entertained and contributed to two successful Christmastime dinners for Safe Space Winter Sheltering guests. Thirty - 40 people were treated to warm, hearty meals on both cold nights. Several non-Jewish volunteers were able to stay home with their families for Christmas.

Chanukah Collection Campaign

We collected and delivered many great personal items for homeless teenagers at 6th Street Drop-In Center and for people who receive social services at the Shalom Free Clinic Thrift Store. Both programs really appreciated our contributions. Thanks so much for your generous and thoughtful contributions.

Green Menorah Efforts

CBI has been instituting sustainable, water saving, reusable and recycling efforts for several years. We have and use washable plates, bowls and tableware when possible. We have and use a water efficient, energy saving dishwasher so generously donated by Haverot Sisterhood. We collect and recycle any materials possible. Also, we have a process for distributing fresh, leftover food from Oneg, Kiddush and Holiday events. We can be proud of our conservation efforts and continued comittment to repairing the environment. New ideas welcome!

Hidden Tikkun Olam - What Are Your Favorite Projects?

Many CBI members who volunteer their time to support and sustain our shul also are involved in Tikkun Olam in our community. Examples include: volunteering at Enloe Hospital; being a youth mentor; Sacramento River Partners; Kids & Creeks and more. Please let us know about your Tikkun Olam efforts.
